Thrilled by the Donation

A couple of little updates:

  • We decided to go with whats already built. Instead of building the kitchen from the ground up, we have concluded that it will be better and more cost effective if we use all of the existing rooms in the house to set up the kitchen, prep rooms, office and place the refrigerators.
  • The promotional video is ready to go. So is a shorter sequence that exhibits the different sustainable practices going on at the property.
  • The Kickstarter project is up and waiting for review from the website's staff.
  • The Amazon account is set and verified.
  • The Terra Mare Facebook is being constructed  and will be published tomorrow morning.
  • Im back on Twitter and have compiled a list of all the people who are in the same channel as us, sustainability wise, so we can reach out expecting them to support us.
Really excited due to the large donation of wood for our organic garden. We got donated over $1000 in wood that will already by on its way to the property on Thursday.

Things we got:

  • 40 8ftx1ft boards
  • 30 4ftx8ft plywood boards
  • 15 14ft 2inx4in
That should be enough to get around 20 Raised beds started at the property! That is a great amount of produce and a whole deal of organization, design and horticulture! My specialty.

The tables for the dining room are currently being designed and they will feature a metal frame with wooden top. We went looking for the perfect fit for the tops today and found some great options.
I will contact one of my friends who works with metal to take me to his metal shop so we can see what we can build.

Seeds are in!

These are the seeds we got:

Now we're just waiting to build the beds and fill them with some high organic content soil to grow some great produce!

The beginning of the venture...

Bienvenido! Thank you for your time!

Lately, excitement has overpowered the presence of most of our other feelings due to the immense joy that we feel when thinking about the project we are about to build. So many aspects to think about, with deadlines that sometimes fry out our brains but are extremely important in order to create a well structured project.

Planning is taking over most of my time because, not too long ago, I came across the 7 P's of Life written on a whiteboard at one of my Horticulture classes at school.

Proper Prior Planning Prevents Possible Poor Performance

But man! With these ideals, planning becomes a never ending process, because there is ALWAYS something to improve in our project.

Planning for the KICKSTARTER page and video.   Check!
Camera and brother to help with the awesome video. Check! He arrives from Santa Cruz on Thursday!
Coaching from a successful KICKSTARTER project creator. Check!
Location. Construction suppliers. Workers. Check!
Menu and Tastings. Check!
Business Plan. Check!

Still waiting on:
Capital to begin construction, purchase of kitchen equipment, restaurant's furniture, silverware and porcelain and construction of the organic garden.
Hiring people for the team. An accountant, restaurant manager, lead chef and advertising advisor.
Set up the KICKSTARTER page.
Film the promotional video.
Create the projects website.

Even if its just the beginning I can already feel a great vibe coming from the whole concept of the restaurant. If people from all over the world knew the basic knowledge needed to begin growing their own food, the food crisis could be slowed down or even brought to a halt. If restaurants had the initiative to grow some of their own produce instead of relying on a supplier, their carbon footprint could be reduced along with the improvement of their taste and freshness of their food.

This project not only will create a physical location where people get to experience the joy of reducing inputs and outputs, both of energy and waste, but will begin to lead their minds in a direction that can surely bring better health to our planet along with their personal wellbeing.

Supporting our project will help build the ideal of a more sustainable restaurant and lifestyle by fueling the indefinite time and effort dedicated to this cause.

No doubt this will be a lifetime effort. We are already committed to it. The question is.
Are you?
